Missing Cynthia McKinney

Democratic Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney lost yesterday's Democratic primary runoff in Georgia.

DECATUR, Ga. -- Cynthia McKinney, the fiery Georgia congresswoman known for her conspiracy theories about the Sept. 11 attacks and the scuffle she had earlier this year with a U.S. Capitol police officer, lost a runoff election Tuesday for her district's Democratic nomination.

Attorney Hank Johnson, a former county commissioner, won the nomination with 59 percent of the vote, surpassing McKinney by more than 11,000 votes.

McKinney, her state's first black congresswoman, has long been controversial. Her suggestion that the Bush administration had advance knowledge of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks helped galvanize opposition and she lost her seat in 2002, but won it again two years ago.

Like another race, the McKinney-Johnson battle supplied much fodder for conservative bloggers. Congresswoman McKinney is a former knucklehead winner. If not for her defeat, I think the congresswoman would have won a few more of my awards.

Alot of bloggers were talking about the McKinney-Johnson race and or live blogged the election. Captain's Quarters and Sister Toldjah are two examples. Today a few bloggers are commenting about the results, James Joyner at OTB and Stuck on Stupid are just two.

Note- Don Surber blogs how the right shouldn't be weeping for Senator Joe Lieberman.(Oops I broke a promise not to say that name again!) Funny, I pretty much said the same thing yesterday. Don is plagarizing me!

No he isn't. Don just says what was obvious to me(and should have been to others) but in a far more eloquent way. Except Don said it the day after the election.

So Cynthia McKinney is gone. Is this good news or has the conservative blogosphere just lost one of its favorite foils?

TFM leans to the later. Here's my thinking.

1- Johnson is little different than McKinney politically. They are both liberal democrats. As one blogger joked with me in an IM, at least he won't punch the Capitol Hill police.

2- Johnson will most likely be an more effective legislator. Look at this congressional ranking. McKinney ranked 408th of 435 congress people. So Johnson is likely to be more effective.

3- Johnson is much less likely to be in the news. He appears much more low key than the firey(or loony) McKinney.

What are conservative bloggers going to do for material now? There's always this two-time Knucklehead winner. Except Wexler has been too busy travelling the world of late to make any headlines.

So goodbye Cynthia McKinney. Somehow I think some of my fellow bloggers will be missing you.
