The Knucklehead of the Day award

Goes to Florida Congressman Robert Wexler(D). Yesterday the congressman joined the shrill chorus of voices attacking President Bush for his response to Hurricane Katrina. Just look at Pop Singer Kanye West last night during a telethon.

What gets Wexler a Knucklehead award is his following statement.

Wexler, who visited Indonesia after last year's tsunami, noted that a U.S. aircraft carrier was off the coast two days after the disaster.

"If we can do that 12,000 miles away in Indonesia, why not in New Orleans?" he said. "If we had just met that same standard, help would have been in New Orleans on Wednesday. We wouldn't be seeing the horrific scenes we saw yesterday and today."

Duh Congressman. How were the ships to be there so fast, when there is a large hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico? They won't sail in such conditions, and rightly so. For showing his stupidity on the floor of the house, Robert Wexler is today's Knucklehead of the day.
