The Knucklehead of the Day award
Today's winner is London University College Professor Mary Fulbrook. She has authored a book titled The People’s State- East German Society from Hitler to Honecker. Innocuous enough till you read what it says on the inside flap.
Replacing the simplistic black-and-white concept of “totalitarianism” by the notion of a “participatory dictatorship,” this book seeks to reinstate the East German people as actors in their own history.
A participatory dictatorship? Where people had one party to choose from and if they didn't like it and tried to leave the country what happens? They get shot and killed or thrown in prison. That's a free society? Only a far left academic could believe what is written in the book flap.
For re-writing history in an absurd way, Professor Mary Fulbrook is today's Knucklehead of the Day.
