Commentary, sarcasm and snide remarks from a Florida resident of over thirty years. Being a glutton for punishment is a requirement for residency here. Who am I? I've been called a moonbat by Michelle Malkin, a Right Wing Nut by Daily Kos, and middle of the road by Florida blog State of Sunshine. Tell me what you think.

The Knuckleheads of the Day award

There has been so much to blog about today, I only now got around to handing out today's award.

Today's winner is defense contractor Pratt & Whitney, EDF Company Inc. and ADP TotalSource Inc. for their part in not re-instating Army reserve Officer John Brainerd after he was called up as part of his Army Reserve commitment. Major Brainerd spent four of his months serving in Kuwait as a military intelligence officer.

When Mr. Brainerd's commitment was up in October 2002, he returned to his P&W job only to find out his desk was still there but not his job. His employer only offered him part-time work.

This whole story is outrageous on more than one level. The companies involved are absolute scum for not giving this man back his job as REQUIRED BY LAW. This is a company involved in our national defense and they treat soldiers like this? This case should be a national outrage instead of the BS about a girl missing in Aruba. Why? Because this is not the first time a returning reservist has been faced with this.

Then I find just as outrageous the fact that it took 2.5 years for a settlement to happen! Why? This person either found other work or had other means to take care of himself. But will every reservist coming home be in that situation? Hardly. It should have never dragged on this long and $30,000 is a joke! This is just more proof of how sick our judicial system is. The little people and our soldiers get screwed while big corporations do it and our courts do nothing. A revolution will happen in this country one day if our courts and politicians don't finally wake up.
