Rehnquist to Retire?
That's what Robert Novak is writing in today's Chicago Sun-Times.
Adding to the tension is word from court sources that ailing Chief Justice William Rehnquist also will announce his retirement before the week is over.
I really feel Chief Justice Rehnquist should step down. He has a conservative leader of the court for over 30 years but his health is failing. Best to step down allow Pres. Bush to appoint one of the many fine candidates there are to suceed Rehnquist. How about Scalia for CJ and McConnell or Luttig for associate justice? The Republicans could remind the Democrats that they approved Scalia unanimously to the court in 1986. The man hasn't changed, so there should be no opposition. Right?
