No license renewal for her
From the Sun-Sentinel-
A driver crashed her car into a DMV building in Deerfield Beach, injuring at least 11 people, seven of whom are being taken to area hospitals, the Florida Highway patrol said.Sidewalks, park benches, DMV offices and even pools can be unsafe places in Florida thanks to the elderly driving population here. I've read of accidents happening with all of those locations since moving to this state in 1976.
It happened about 4:30 p.m. at 100 S. Military Trail.
According to the state's department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the office was open for business when the wreck occured.
The 80-year-old driver was adjusting her vehicle in a parking spot directly in front of the office, spaces usually reserved only for people taking driving tests, when she, for some reason, stepped on the gas pedal hard enough to propel the car over a cement parking block, onto the sidewalk of the strip mall and into the lobby of the DMV office, Troopers said.
The woman had been at the office to renew her license, said FHP Sgt. Mark Wysocky.
Note there is no name given for the driver in the above article. Is the Sun-Sentinel playing name games again?
