Ottawa - A Canadian commissioner faces a criminal probe over his offer to rubber-stamp a South Korean woman's refugee claim if she agreed to have sex with him, an official said Tuesday.

"The person was suspended last week after the allegations were brought to the attention of the Immigration and Refugee Board chairman," board spokesperson Dominique Forget told AFP.

"The file has also been referred to the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police)," she added.

In a video, secretly taped by her boyfriend outside the judge's chambers and broadcast on CTV, the commissioner tells the woman she is beautiful like a model and he would approve her application if she had sex with him, but warned her not to tell her Canadian boyfriend.
