Something in Coral Springs' water?
No, not really. Some nice news for a change. I'm a parent of a prematurely born son, I know where these parents are right now. God bless and protect all these children. I pray they all get strong and are soon able to go home with their parents. These couples are all doubly blessed.
Open Post- Third World County, Samantha Burns,
Coral Springs -- Chris Bartlett watched as his newborn son seemed to eyeball the two cuties, Gina and Lily, in the crib nearby.
"Prom date," he suggested, adding it's possible these children will know each other since they'll be in the same grade in school. "He has good taste. They are adorable."
There might be other possibilities among the seven -- count `em, seven -- sets of twins at Coral Springs Medical Center. All were born between April 22 and Wednesday. Some were natural births; other parents spent several years in fertility treatments.
There are so many of them, two babies were moved to a different section of the hospital because the intensive care unit ran out of room. Another was moved to Broward General Medical Center for specialized treatment. There are 11 of the original 14 still in the ICU room.
Nurse Michelle Feingold has been at the hospital for 10 years, and was at Broward General Medical Center for 10 years before that. "Twenty years and I have never seen seven sets of twins at one time," she said. "Two, maybe three once."
One of the proud sets of parents are Kathryn and William Beebe, of Coral Springs, whose Christopher and Jason were born May 12, about one month early. They learned she was pregnant on the day Hurricane Wilma blew through town.
"The shingles were falling off the roof onto the car and I didn't care," Kathryn said, as Christopher stretched and stuck his finger in Jason's left ear.
The boy-boy parents include the Beebes; Jill and Chris Bartlett, of Coral Springs, parents of Grant and Garrett; and Melissa Martelly and Clermenceau Jeantinord, of North Lauderdale, parents of Zaden and Nathan.
The girl-girl families are Nancy and Jonathan Heil, of Cooper City, whose daughters are Sydney and Samantha; and Donna Garrido-Bido and Giovanni Bido, parents of Gina and Lily.
The boy-girl twins include parents Simcha and Menachem Hect, of Coral Springs, whose babies are still unnamed, and the Sunrise parents of one set who asked not to be identified.
One set of twins will be ready to go home next week, said nurse Sim Haines. The last set probably won't leave for a month.
