Service at jail not up to suspect's standards
By Stephanie Slater
DELRAY BEACH — At least one guest won't be giving a four-star rating to the police department's jail.
Lt. Tommy Mitchell said Erin Swanson was displeased early Saturday when Delray Beach police denied her request for bottled spring water and a magazine to help pass the time in a temporary holding cell.
"We told her 'you're in jail, those types of things are not supplied,' " Mitchell said.
The 23-year-old Delray Beach woman was charged with aggravated battery for allegedly beating her live-in boyfriend with a bedpost, Mitchell said.
Swanson huffed and puffed, and crouched in the fetal position in a corner of the holding cell until police transferred her to the Palm Beach County Jail. She was released from jail Sunday on her own recognizance.
"We started to joke that if she asked for breakfast at The Breakers, we didn't know what we'd do,"
