The Knucklehead of the Day award

Today's winner is Clifton Park New York Doctor Akiva Abraham. Among the reasons for Dr. Abraham to lose his license, was that he had sex in a hospital waiting room!

ALBANY, N.Y. - The license of a Clifton Park obstetrician/gynecologist who had sex in a hospital waiting room and who induced another woman's labor early so he wouldn't have to change his vacation plans has been revoked by state health officials.

The Board for Professional Medical Conduct this week found Dr. Akiva Abraham morally unfit to practice medicine. Among the evidence considered was testimony by a psychiatrist who called Abraham "the most amoral person she had evaluated who was not behind bars."

Abraham, 40, had a five-month sexual relationship in 2002 with a troubled 25-year-old woman he was treating, including encounters with her in his office and in a waiting room at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany for doctors on call, according to health officials.

He was also accused of forcing the woman to have sex with him against her wishes.

The state also ruled that Abraham, who worked at several Albany area hospitals, had practiced medicine negligently, filed false reports and failed to maintain accurate records.

Abraham's attorney, James Hacker, disputed the state's findings, saying many "of the allegations in the decision and in the charges are salacious and unfounded."

Hacker denied that his client forced the 25-year-old woman to have sex against her will. He also disputed a charge that Abraham inappropriately induced the delivery of a baby by a 30-year-old woman at St. Peter's in October 2002.

Abraham is appealing the board's decision, the attorney said.

St. Peter's officials said that Abraham is no longer an active member of its medical staff.
