Commentary, sarcasm and snide remarks from a Florida resident of over thirty years. Being a glutton for punishment is a requirement for residency here. Who am I? Another reason the public distrusts the judicial system

A judge in Orange County Florida freed a man who was charged with second degree murder. The reason? The defendant's right to a speedy trial had been violated.

It all comes down to this. Mr. Pedro Lebron is accused of murdering his girlfriend Francina Boykin in April 2004. At the same time Mr. Lebron was wounded in the leg, he told the police the gun went off in a struggle.

While Mr. Lebron was in the hospital, the police read him his rights and even handcuffed him to his hospital gurney. But no actual charges were filed at the time. Mr Boykin was not arrested till January of this year and then charged with 2nd degree murder.

In Florida a defendant must go to trial within 175 days of his arrest. They are counting the day Boykin was handcuffed and read his rights as the day of arrest!

What is wrong with our justice system? A hell of alot I see. Murderers off on technicalities, Out of control judges who jail jurors, or jail defendants in traffic court who are told to go to the incorrect courtroom, lawyers and their phony class action suits that only benefit them, and our supreme court ruling a person doesn't have a right to their home in direct contradiction of the fifth ammendment. I can go on, and on and on. Then if you don't have money to hire a proper attorney you get screwed. The guilty go free and the innocent get it up the rear. A revolution could be coming this way, because the public can only take so much bs.
