Rain delay
A summit between North Korean and South Korean leaders has been put on hold.
SEOUL, Aug. 18 (Yonhap) -- North Korea on Saturday asked South Korea to postpone the inter-Korean summit slated for Aug. 28-30 in Pyongyang until early October, citing severe flood damage sustained by the North, presidential spokesman Cheon Ho-seon said.Just based on the history of the six-way talks, little will happen when Roh and Kim meet in October. That is except for the photo oportunity such a summit will afford, and if GI at ROK Drop is right, for some money to pass from Seoul to Pyongyang.
In response, South Korea accepted the North's request and proposed holding the summit on Oct. 2-4 in the North Korean capital, Cheon said.
In a prompt reply, the North announced its agreement to the South's proposal, he said.
Isn't such cynicism terrible when world peace could come about from this important meeting? Only if you don't know the history of the last Koreas summit.
If any good comes out of the delay, its that Michelle Wie can now join the South Korean delegation when it goes to Pyongyang. She is certainly in need of golf help at present, and maybe that golf wizard Kim il-Jong can help. Now that would be progress.(Sarcastic laughter time)
