Flora Foods has recalled its 25-ounce jars of "Cerignola Olives" because they could be contaminated with clostridium botulinum, which can cause a potentially fatal form of food poisoning.
The recalled olives were distributed in retail stores in Florida, Georgia and upstate New York. The product comes in a clear glass jar with LOT No. G080 stamped on the label, according to a company statement.
No illnesses linked to the olives have been reported to date, the company said.
Routine testing found the product had been underprocessed, company officials said. It was not clear how many jars of olives might be affected.
