Some Miami Dolphins notes
Football season is over five months away, but there is plenty of Dolphins news.
*- The NFL announced some of its 2006 schedule today. Miami will play the opening game of the season at Pittsburgh on September 7th. They will also be playing on Thanksgiving day in Detroit.
I guess my holiday plans are set then.(Subject to change by the boss, aka Dear wife) Two games with alot of exposure but I still think Miami will have a losing season in 2006.
*- Nick Saban and his coaches scouted Univ of Texas QB Vince Young last weekend. This has led to speculation that Miami would use their first round draft pick to take him if he dropped to Miami's position in the collegiate draft next month.
TFM's take- Miami is just going through the motions. After their trade for Duante Culpepper I doubt Miami will use any draft pick on a QB, alone a high-round pick. Miami doesn't have a 2nd round pick now due to the acquisition of Culpepper.
*- The Culpepper trade. I think it's a bad mistake and liable to rank up with the Feeley deal of two years ago. Duante is coming off knee surgery, and didn't play well before the injury. Then there's Culpepper's leadership which comes into question after his off-field problems of last year. I smell a debacle, not helped by the fact that Miami let go two of its three QBs of 2005. Gus Frerotte all is forgiven, please come back. (Time for sarcastic laughter)
