Living on Trinchitella street

That's what people in Deerfield Beach will soon be saying if Knucklehead State Senator Steve Geller gets his way. He wants to rename a South Florida street after the a deceased condo boss?

I would think Senator Geller would have more pressing legislative matters except this is South Floria. The rules are different here. Hey Geller are you going to compensate all the businesses for the money they'll have to spend to change their stationary, business cards and all that?

No, I didn't think so.

If state Sen. Steve Geller gets his way, a street in Deerfield Beach will take the name of the late political powerhouse and condo king Amadeo "Trinchi" Trinchitella.

Geller, D-Hallandale Beach, has filed a bill to rename Southwest 10th Street between Interstate 95 and the Sawgrass Expressway after Trinchitella. But first, he must win the blessing of Deerfield Beach commissioners and state legislators.

Deerfield Beach Mayor Al Capellini said the commission would likely consider the issue, but was not sure when.

Trinchitella, a longtime Deerfield Beach commissioner, died in February at 87, three days after breaking his hip in a fall while trying to take his seat at City Hall. Geller's mother, Joan Geller, was engaged to Trinchitella at the time of his death.

As the longtime Democratic leader of Century Village, Trinchitella was historically hailed as Broward County's most prominent condo boss.

At the height of his power, he single-handedly blocked a Sawgrass Expressway extension from being built next to Century Village on Southwest 10th Street, saying it would bring too much traffic and noise to the retirement community.
