Way to go Pat and other golf notes

Congratulations to Pat Hurst on her convincing victory at the LPGA's State Farm Classic. She won by three shots over defending champion Christi Kerr.

The win had to be sweet for Pat. She hadn't won on tour since 2000 plus had several heartbreaking late collapses in the interval. This was her sixth top 10 in her last nine events.

*- Pat will one of twelve golfers representing the US next weekend in the Solheim Cup vs. Europe. The US hopes to win back the cup after losing the last match in 2003.

Want to guess what I will be watching next weekend? That and the Dolphin home opener.

*- This was probably Morgan Pressel's final event as an amateur. She is applying to the LPGA to join the tour. Morgan needs permission because she is still only 17. The LPGA qualifying school is next month and if Morgan plays her amateur career is over.

I'm not a real big Morgan Pressel fan but I wish her good luck.

*- There will be rare Monday golf tomorrow. The PGA Tour's Duetsche Bank tournament finishes tomorrow. Right now there is a five way tie for the lead. The players tied are Jason Bohn, John Rollins, Billy Andrade, Olin Browne and Carl Pettersen. Journeymen each and every one of them.

Tiger Woods after an opening 65 has shot 73-72 and is 7 shots back going into tomorrow. Tied for 41st I think a comeback is improbable. But with a crowded leaderboard, The Deutsche Bank Classic should be a good finish tomorrow.
