Silence
A few bloggers like Professor Bainbridge and Ann Althouse have noted the lack of a statement coming from Justice Souter after the passing of Chief Justice William Rehnquist. They have wondered why?
I say why bother to wonder.
Grief is a personal process. It takes on many forms. I said so when blogging about Cindy Sheehan. A moment of silence has always been accepted as a method of honoring the dead. Souter's silence just like Cindy Sheehan's protests can be just two such forms of grieving. Lets not get into the psychoanalyzing these people. We're just diving into a cesspool if we do otherwise.
