Now you see it, Now you don't
The Washington Post and ABC News have a new poll out. The poll shows Bush's approval ratings are at a new low in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
But that isn't the interesting part of the story. Contrast this paragraph in the reporting on the poll. First from last night and then today.
A total of 1, 200 randomly selected adults, including an oversample of 200 African-Americans, were interviewed Sept. 8-11 for this survey. Margin of sampling error for results based on the full sample is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
and today
The poll was conducted with 1,201 randomly selected adults, in an interviews between Sept. 8-11. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.
Notice how the oversampling of African-Americans is deleted from today's reporting. Any one who follows American politics know this group is very heavily anti-Bush. Their over sampling would skew the numbers of any poll.
So why the omission today? Oversight or deliberate withholding of info that the poll is biased? Does the WPO want to get a reputation like the NYT has?
