NAGANO — A briefcase containing 100 million yen worth of jewelry was stolen from a hotel room in Nagano City on Friday night, police said. A male employee of a jewelry company based in Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture, who was staying at Nagano Palace Hotel alerted police at around 8:40 p.m., they said.Such excellent customer service. Can I steal a briefcase? The clerk says. "Of course sir, how can I help you." For failing one of its customers, The Nagano Palace Hotel is today's twenty-first Knucklehead winner of the Day.
According to the investigation, the employee went outside the hotel for dinner at around 8 p.m. Shortly, a man claiming to be one of the employees of the company called the front desk, asking the hotel to hand over the key of the male employee's room to a "customer" who will be visiting. After that phone call, a man appeared in the hotel, receiving the key to the room from a hotel employee, they said. When the jewelry company's employee returned to his room, the briefcase was missing, they said.
