SEATTLE - A man who submitted phony voter registration forms in Seattle pleaded guilty in King County Superior Court to providing false information and was sentenced to 30 days of detention. There is no excuse for voter fraud. By cheating, your disenfranchising other voters. That's why I name Ryan Olson of Needles, Calif., and ACORN our 19th Knuckleheads of the Day.
Prosecutors said Thursday he may serve the time under home monitoring.
Ryan Olson of Needles, Calif., is one of seven workers for a group called ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). They were accused of submitting nearly 1,800 fraudulent voter forms last summer by meeting at the library and making up names from phone directories, newspaper articles and baby-naming books.
Election workers became suspicious when they noticed similarities in signatures.
No ballots from the fraudulent registrations were cast.
Two other ACORN workers pleaded guilty and await sentencing and cases are pending against the others.
