Another fly has dropped

Not surprisingly another 2008 Presidential hopeful is pulling out of the race months before a vote is even cast.

Sen. Sam Brownback will end his bid for the presidential nomination on Friday, two sources close to the Kansas Republican tell The Associated Press.

Sen. Sam Brownback participates in a GOP presidential debate in Dearborn, Michigan.

A campaign source tells CNN "all scheduling put on hold pending a major announcement."

Brownback, a social conservative, was never able to break into the top tier of Republican candidates. In the latest CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll conducted October 12-14, Brownback as the top choice of 1 percent of the registered Republicans polled.

The poll's margin of error was plus or minus 5 percent.

Brownback also had difficulty fundraising. On Monday, Brownback reported raising about $926,000 for his presidential campaign in the third quarter
Brownback's campaign was going no where and he wasn't likely to get a vote from members of my household.(Remember TFM is a registered Democrat but my wife and Mother-in-law are Republicans) It still is disappointing, that candidates are dropping out of the race even before the elections start. That says more about the absurdity of the way we elect a President in this country.

Below the Beltway and James Joyner at OTB are also discussing this news.
