A man holds up a pharmacy using a syringe as a weapon. Don't you just love Florida?

ST. PETERSBURG - A man brandishing a syringe as a weapon robbed a pharmacy Wednesday, a Pinellas sheriff's spokesman said.

The man walked behind the counter at Tri-Med Medical Pharmacy shortly before 4:30 p.m. and said he had a tainted syringe, Sgt. Jim Bordner said. He then demanded oxycodone, a medication that the National Institutes of Health says relieves moderate to severe pain.

After receiving the medicine, the man ran from the pharmacy at 5779 49th St. N. He may have fled in a dark-colored sedan, Bordner said.

Three employees were inside the pharmacy at the time. No injuries were reported.
