MIAMI -- Customs officials seized 3,740 pounds of marijuana off a flight from Jamaica in the largest grab of the drug at Miami International Airport so far in 2006, a Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman said Friday.

A canine police dog scented the pot as it arrived on an AmeriJet cargo flight of spices from Kingston about 11 p.m. Thursday, spokeswoman Norma Morfa said. The dog, Molly, alerted officers, who found the marijuana packed in bricks and surrounded with plastic bags of ground pepper, curry and other seasonings.

A total of 3,740 pounds of pot was found aboard the jet, Morfa said.

CBP turned over the marijuana to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, Morfa said. They are investigating where in Jamaica the stash came from and where in the United States it was to be delivered.
