The missing link

Read this Miami Herald article and see if you can tell what is missing.

Police are looking for an armed robber suspected of targeting women who have infants with them at a Pembroke Pines mall.

Two women were robbed separately in the Macy's parking lot near the east end of Pembroke Lakes Mall, 11401 Pines Blvd., said Pembroke Pines police Cmdr. David Golt. Each woman had a baby with her when the robberies occurred, and although the man threatened to hurt them and their children, no one was injured, Golt said.

The latest robbery took place about 11:15 a.m. Friday. A woman was near her car when a man walked up to her and her infant child, Golt said. The man asked the woman for her ring and showed her a semiautomatic handgun tucked in his waistband.

Once the unidentified woman handed over the ring, the robber calmly walked away, Golt said.

Police say they believe the man's first robbery took place around 3:15 p.m. Oct. 14. The suspect approached a woman pushing a stroller in the parking lot near Macy's and demanded her purse.

While pointing a gun at her small child, he threatened to hurt her and the baby if she didn't hand over the purse, Golt said.

The suspect calmly walked away after she gave him her purse.

According to Pembroke Pines police, the suspect has a medium build and is in his early 20s. He is clean shaved and between 6-foot and 6-foot-2, with a medium complexion and short cropped hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a striped polo shirt.

Done already? Do you notice what is missing from the suspect's description?

Their race? A medium complexion is not a description. That could be an African-American, Hispanic, Asian or even a well tanned white man who spends too much time in the sun. There are such men in South Florida, they often work in the lawn care business or as lifeguards.

So did the Miami Herald withhold the suspect's race(If you don't think the media can't play PC games with crime news, then go read this post of mine) or did the reporter forget to ask the Pembroke Pines police for that info?
