A bear that prompted a lockdown at Immokalee Middle and Immokalee High schools has been captured.

Students were unable to move between school buildings as wildlife officers try to sedate and remove the animal.

"The bear was spotted on the Immokalee Middle School campus around 9 a.m., then went across the street to the Immokalee High School campus," said Joe Landon, communications director for Collier County public schools.

The high school has an enrollment of 1,445 students, while the adjacent middle school has 1,121 students on campus.
