The Knuckleheads of the Day award

Today's winners are Haim, Violet and Odelia Habibi. They get today's award for setting off firecrackers in a major Christian shrine in Israel on March 3rd. They were charged today with arson and public disorder.

These parents and daughter are incredibly dumb. Also eerily familiar to other recent knuckleheads. A church/synagogue/mosque or any house of God is a house of worship and people should act accordingly. Their supposed motives are as dumb as the Habibis are The attack caused light damage and I hope this family is forced to pay for the repairs.

For mistaking a church for playground, Haim, Violet and Odelia Habibi are today's Knuckleheads of the day.

JERUSALEM - An Israeli couple and their 20-year-old daughter were charged Thursday with arson and public disorder after they set off firecrackers inside a major Christian shrine, sparking violent protests by Israeli Arabs.

Haim Eliyahu Habibi — a Jewish Israeli — his Christian wife, Violet, and their daughter Odelia were arrested at the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, the traditional boyhood town of Jesus, after the March 3 attack during a Lent service. No date was set for their trial.

The attack caused only light damage but led to rioting that injured two dozen people, including 13 police officers. The Habibis were beaten by enraged worshippers before they were spirited out the church by police.

Police said at the time that Habibi apparently was not a Jewish extremist and had financial problems. The daughter told investigators her parents carried out the attack to draw attention to their economic troubles and to protest that two of their children had been taken into care by Israeli authorities.
