Commentary, sarcasm and snide remarks from a Florida resident of over thirty years. Being a glutton for punishment is a requirement for residency here. Who am I? I've been called a moonbat by Michelle Malkin, a Right Wing Nut by Daily Kos, and middle of the road by Florida blog State of Sunshine. Tell me what you think.

Fore!

The PGA Tour starts the 2006 Golf year today at the Mercedes Championships. The tournament which consists of all the tournament winners of 2005, is played at Kapalua on the island of Maui in the state of Hawaii.

Despite it being a field of winners, the Mercedes is missing quite a few big names. Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Retief Goosen all were eligible and decided to skip the event. Australian Stuart Appleby is the two-time defending champ.

This is my first golf post of 2006. There will be many more to come, I follow both the men's and ladies tours. The golf is on in the evening this weekend, it won't conflict with NFL Football except on Saturday. I'm not all that big on watching tournaments before Sunday in any case.

A few golf predictions for 2006.

Tiger Woods wins Player of the year honors, five tour titles and the US Open Championship
Vijay Singh wins five titles but no majors.
Phil Mickelson wins three titles but no majors.
David Toms wins the Masters.
Adam Scott wins the British Open
Sergio Garcia wins the PGA Champion
Todd Hamilton and Ben Curtis both get their first wins since winning the British Open.

We'll just have to wait and see if I'm right.
