The Co-Knucklehead of the Day award Part Five

If anyone is worried, I have a Knucklehead candidate lined up for tomorrow. Knuckleheads are falling from the skies today. Did someone start a parade and not tell me about it?

Our fifth winner today is former FSU Cornerback Antonio Cromartie. Cromartie is a former FSU Cornerback because he announced his intention enter the NFL draft.

This is an incredibly stupid college athlete. Turning professional shows it because

1- Cromartie missed all of the 2005 season because of a knee injury.
2- In two previous years at FSU he only started one game.

Cromartie thinks he is NFL material? Throw a year of college away on this pipe dream? That's assuming he was utilizing the free college education that came with his scholarship. From his life choices it appears Cromartie hasn't, because turning pro in his case is an act of stupidity.

For throwing away on a college education to pursue an illusion, Antonio Cromartie is one of today's Co-Knuckleheads of the day.

MIAMI GARDENS — Cornerback Antonio Cromartie has started one game in his career. Tuesday, he determined that was enough to enter the NFL Draft.

Cromartie, who had two years of eligibility remaining, missed the entire 2005 season after tearing a knee ligament in the summer. He applied to the NFL Advisory Council but made his decision before hearing from the league.

"This is based on several decisions,'' Cromartie said. "But mainly I want to be able to help my family out. ... My knee feels great and I have been working extremely hard to get myself ready to play again. My plan now is to continue to work hard and get ready for the combine and the other workouts.''

Cromartie (6-feet-3, 210 pounds) was voted to the All-ACC first team in 2004 despite playing the entire season as a reserve. He had four interceptions and two touchdowns, one on a fumble return. Cromartie was expected to anchor the secondary this season. He was injured during a non-contact drill about one month before the start of practice.
