Too early to give up
The Miami Dolphin season is already two games old and some people are wondering if their First round pick Ronnie Brown will be a bust. I say its still way too early.
Granted Brown rushed for less than 100 yards in 2 games, didn't get 3 yards a carry either. But you got to remember the Dolphins offensive line is not very good. Plus Brown missed about half the pre-season while he held out on a contract.
Historically the Dolphins have not had sucess with running backs for more than a year or two. Everyone remembers Larry Csonka, Jim Klick, and Mercury Morris. But then Morris burned out quickly. Then we got a long line of runners like Delvin Williams, Lorenzo Hampton, Sammie Smith, Tony Nathan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar(no relation to the basketball player), John Avery and a few others. Some of these guys were first or 2nd round picks. Most were good for a year, two at most. If they were that.
Then who can forget Ricky Williams and his retirement? History at the running back position has not been kind to Miami.
All I say now is give Brown time. Two games does or doesn't prove anything. Here's another Post column that agrees with me.
