Two John Wayne Classics making rare tv appearances this weekend

AMC(American Movie Classics) is airing two John Wayne movies this weekend that haven't been seen in many years. First tonight at 8 p.m. it will be Island in the Sky(1953).

But more notably the Granddaddy of all disaster movies, The High and the Mighty(1954) will be aired tomorrow night at 8 p.m. Both these films were kept out of general circulation for many years. I believe all copies were owned by the Wayne family.(Much similiar to 4 Alfred Hitchcock movies led by Rear Window that were kept out of circulation also till the mid-eighties) I saw the last half of The High and The Mighty when it aired on HBO or Cinemax sometime 20-25 years ago. I'll be watching it again tomorrow night. I just wish AMC still didn't have commercials.

So set your VCRS this weekend.
