Just how many do you suppose have this as their goal?
An article in Last week's Washington Post makes for interesting reading. It is an interview of Syrian born cleric Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed who now resides in England. The most interesting part of the article is one quote from Mr. Mohammed.
"I would like to see the Islamic flag fly, not only over number 10 Downing Street, but over the whole world," he said.
Fellow blogger and friend Kobayashi Maru asks if we can agree now that the enemy has raised his hand and has declared his ambitions. Some would say this is just one questionable personality but then look at the ongoing violence in the Middle East. What is the real goal of the terrorists and those that support them? Does it matter what their expectations or motives are?
I think we have to assume the worst. For not to do so is far too dangerous with the weapons available today. Our country is free, too free to ever fight a defensive war.(Besides look how much liberals are up in arms over the Patriot Act. What if we undertook draconian security measures like Israel.) We have to eliminate the threats instead. I truly feel our enemies will use any motive or reasoning to attack us. What was the US doing to deserve 9-11? Besides backing Israel? Nothing, so we have to conclude these people will attack no matter what. It would be foolish to do otherwise.
