US Supreme Court ruling on medical marijuana.

Today the Supreme court ruled 6-3 to uphold federal laws tightly restricting the use of pot for medical purposes. Here is the yahoo link.

I won't quote article, the case was widely publicized today. Instead I'll give my thoughts on the subject.

First the ruling didn't surprise me. Federal law always trumps state law when it comes to regulating certain substances whether its drugs or alcohol. The ten states that passed this legislation and those supported it were deluding themselves if they thought they would win at the USSC.

As to medicinal marijuana, the federal govt should loosen the restrictions on it severely. There are people who need this for medical conditions including cancer. I'm a cancer survivor. People should be able to get this as a prescription at a pharmacy like any other drug or narcotic.

Why isn't the law changed? Sheer stupidity and political cowardice. Our legislators in Washington don't want to be see as easy on drugs. Gimme a break, this isn't heroin or cocaine. Do politicians really think voters are that dumb? Oh stow that question, both parties think the public is dumb. We aren't, we know what is right and wrong. Allowing people to get marijuana for medicinal purposes who need it, is the merciful thing to do. To not loosen these restrictions is just an act of stupidity.
