Knucklehead Award Friday Part Ten

Our tenth winner is Philippine Congresswoman Faysah RPM Dumarpa. She gets the award for the following.

A Muslim congresswoman from Mindanao flared up when she was reportedly served a pork dish at the Shangri-la Restaurant during a dinner break Monday night at the House of Representatives in Batasan Hills, Quezon City.

Investigators from Station 6 of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the supposed slapping incident was triggered when a waiter served a pork dish to Rep. Faysah RPM Dumarpa of the First District of Lanao del Sur.

Complainant Virginia Fernando-Altamirano, 36, married, and a caterer of Shangri-la Restaurant at the corner of Times Street and West Avenue, Barangay West Triangle, Diliman, Quezon City said the incident happened between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Monday at the South Lounge of the House of Representatives.

Altamirano said Congresswoman Dumarpa confronted her when the waiter served her pork. Upon realizing that the lawmaker is a Muslim, Altamirano quickly apologized to her.

Dumarpa, however, allegedly disregarded Altamirano’s gesture and reportedly slapped and berated the caterer in the presence of her colleagues.

Dumarpa’s fellow lawmakers intervened and asked Altamirano to leave.

At a press conference later yesterday afternoon, Dumarpa gave her side, saying she felt "betrayed and insulted" when Altamirano denied there was pork in the noodles served House lawmakers.

Congresswoman that doesn't mean you can slap someone around. You're insulted fine, but your behavior was uncalled for and for that you Faysah RPM Dumarpa are today's tenth Knucklehead of the day.
