Commentary, sarcasm and snide remarks from a Florida resident of over thirty years. Being a glutton for punishment is a requirement for residency here. Who am I? Knucklehead Award Friday Part Seven

Our Seventh winner is the PGA Tour's Sony Open. They get the award for the following.

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Michelle Wie appetite for playing in men's tournament shows no sign of abating and she will kick off 2007 by competing in the PGA tour's Sony Open on her home island of Oahu.

Sony, one of the 17-year-old's key sponsors, granted Wie an exemption to play in the early-season event for the fourth straight year.

Wie will round off her 2006 campaign by playing in the Casio World Open in Japan against a field mostly comprised of home based male professionals.

She has failed to make the cut in six events of the PGA tour but did survive the halfway cull at an Asian tour event in Korea earlier this year.
CNN fails to note that Michelle has finished dead last in her last two men's events and would have made it three if not for her collapse at the John Deere Classic last summer.

The Michelle Wie playing with the men story has become a farce instead. It needs to be stopped, not just for pro golf's sake but Michelle's also. Her golf game is starting to show cracks. The Sony Open is only inviting Michelle because of her drawing people to the tournament. This is becoming exploitation, there is no other justification for what this tournament is doing. The PGA Tour's Sony Open is our seventh Knucklehead of the Day.

Update- Michelle shot 81-80 in the Casion World Open yesterday and today to miss the cut. Enough is enough already.
