No it wasn't gunpowder
Why a concourse at Miami airport was closed this morning.
Concourse F was closed about 6 a.m. after a passenger tried to check a bag containing the ashes of a loved one. The luggage turned some heads while passing through a machine designed to check for explosives, Transportation Security Administration officials said. ''Our officers are highly trained to look for what we call IEDs, or improvised explosive devices,'' said Sari Koshetz, a TSA spokeswoman. ``A combination of items in the bag looked suspicious.''As I so frequently say- You got to love Florida.
The items, Koshetz said, included ashes in a box.
Hundreds were evacuated from the airport as a bomb squad raced to the scene.
The contents of the luggage turned out to be harmless, Koshetz said.
