Slap Happy

TAMPA - A 39-year-old man smacked his stepdaughter in a day care parking lot, drove his car into bystanders and slapped a Hillsborough County deputy, according to an arrest report.

Leonard Anton Wofford, of 3202 Colwell Ave., Apt. 1406, faces four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of child abuse and battery on a law enforcement officer.

He remained at Orient Road Jail late Saturday with bail set at $17,500.

Deputies said the incident started at about 11:10 a.m. Friday outside the Creative World School, 5557 Waters Ave., where Wofford was seen slapping the child’s face with an open hand and her bare bottom with a flat comb.

When bystanders walked over to help the girl, Wofford backed his vehicle toward them, Deputy Manuel Roman wrote in the report. Wofford then drove forward and struck another victim, who dove onto the hood and remained there as Wofford drove 200 feet through the parking lot.

Another witness followed the vehicle until it was stopped by deputies at 6704 N. Himes Ave.

After being read his Miranda rights, Wofford demonstrated slapping the girl and struck Roman’s face with an open hand, the deputy wrote.

LOL. Mr. Wofford must be either a Three Stooges or Alfred Hitchcock fan. The first thing that popped into my mind, was this old Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode. A father tries to coverup a murder committed by his daughter. The killing was done with the use of a croquet mallet. The coverup didn't work, at the end of the episode Hitchcock explains to the audience. "Millicent reenacted the crime for police with her father as the subject. Unfortunately she broke the croquet mallet." Or something like that.

Yes I got a weird sense of humor. What do you expect from someone who gives out Knucklehead awards?
