Whose whopper is it?
The minimum wage is being increased to $7.25 an hour.
"This is a great day for America's middle class," said Rep. George Miller (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee. "America's workers have been waiting for a raise for a long time."Kevin at Wizbang says in reply
Even the AP reporter could help but note that full-time wages at the new rate would amount to just over $15,000 a year. I defy anyone to classify and income of $15,000 a year as middle class when the poverty line for a single individual under 65 is between $10,210 and $10,488 a year.Kevin goes on to say Congressman Miller is being dishonest.
Is he? What are the numbers on the middle class who work a second job at minimum wage to make ends meet. Maybe that is who Congressman Miller is referring to.
TFM supports increasing the minimum wage. It is long overdue in being increased and what I have to say to those who feel it shouldn't. Why don't you advocate doing away with it entirely? If its so bad for the economy.
