Where is the dramamine? Part eleven
The latest news on disgraced former West Palm Beach City Commissioner Jim Exline.
WEST PALM BEACH -- Disgraced former West Palm Beach commissioner James Exline on Wednesday was arraigned in U.S. District Court on charges he knowingly filed a false income-tax return.I blogged about Exline before in this post.
Although he entered a not guilty plea at the proceeding, he is expected to plead guilty later in accordance with a plea bargain deal reached with federal prosecutors.
The hearing at which Exline will enter the guilty plea has not yet been scheduled.
The Sun-Sentinel seems convinced Exline will plead guilty some time in the future. Then again they were reporting yesterday he'd plead guilty.
As part of a plea negotiation, Exline, 42, is scheduled to plead guilty at 10 a.m. tomorrow at an initial appearance in U.S. District Court. He faces three years in prison and fines of up to $250,000.Also in an article this morning.
West Palm Beach – Former City Commissioner James Exline is expected to plead guilty this morning in U.S. District Court to knowingly filing a false federal tax return. The Sun-Sentinel has swung twice at the pitch and missed, could they still be wrong about Exline? What I know about human psychology tells me no one wants to go to jail. Exline could very well want his day in court.
I'm not totally faulting the Sun-Sentinel for blowing the Exline story, The Palm Beach Post fell into the same trap here and here. What both papers forgot is they are in the news reporting business, not the news predicting business.
