The Knucklehead of the Day award
Today's winner is NBA Basketball player Ron Artest. He gets the award for the following.
AUBURN, Calif., March 5 (UPI) -- The Sacramento Kings have indefinitely excused Ron Artest from the team after he was arrested at his home and later released on $50,000 bail Monday.This NBA player has serious issues. Real men don't assault women, and for doing just that Ron Artest is today's Knucklehead of the Day.
The Kings forward was arrested by the Placer County Sheriff's Department following a disturbance at his house in Loomis.
A Placer County Sheriff's Department spokesperson said a female called 911 Monday morning, reporting that she had been assaulted by Artest. Deputies responded and found both parties in the home, but separated. Artest cooperated during the interview and was booked without incident.
Artest, 27, is scheduled to be arraigned March 22.
In 51 games this season with the Kings, Artest is averaging 18.7 points and 6.6 rebounds.
Artest has had legal problems in the past. He was one of the most fined players in the league and was suspended in the now infamous brawl at the Palace at Auburn Hills when he ran into the crowd after being hit with a paper cup.
