RIVIERA BEACH - A 35-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped and assaulted his neighbor was arrested Wednesday night after the victim called police from the trunk of her car, police said.

Melvin Leach, 35, broke into the woman's apartment, sexually assaulted and beat her, then forced her into the trunk of her car. He then drove to another location, where she quietly called police from the trunk and directed them to find her.

Leach confessed to the crime and indicated he may have attacked other women, police said.

First rule in kidnapping- Make sure the victim doesn't have their cell phone. Melvin Leach will time in jail to contemplate that mistake plus being today's twenty second Knucklehead of the day.
