Say a person or object can't be in two places at once. Or something like that. I think I learned this on Bugs Bunny when I was young.

It appears Charlie Crist didn't study physics. He scheduled events in Sarasota and West Palm Beach for last night. Guess which he didn't attend?

Attorney General and Republican governor candidate Charlie Crist was a no-show at Wednesday night’s Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee meeting, but managed to attend a fund-raiser across the state in Sarasota at about the same time.

Crist’s campaign said the candidate had intended to make it to both events through the miracle of charter aviation, but his bicoastal plan was foiled by Tropical Storm Alberto and the demands of Crist’s day job as AG.

The fact that Crist had committed to simultaneous events nearly 200 miles apart raised the eyebrows of some Palm Beach County Repubs, who ended up listening to a quintet of county commission hopefuls instead of the presumed frontrunner for the GOP guv nomination.

Dinerstein said Crist had been scheduled to huddle with about 20 Palm Beach County Republicans from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, then schmooze with other party activists until 6:45 p.m., when the party’s monthly meeting began. He was supposed to speak at the beginning of the meeting and duck out by 7:15 p.m. The Crist campaign said the candidate then planned to hop a charter to Sarasota and arrive sometime after 8 p.m. at his fund-raiser there.

But Alberto compelled Crist to remain on the west coast Wednesday to take care of AG-related tasks, such as combatting price-gouging, Crist campaign spokeswoman Vivian Myrtetus said. While he couldn’t make it to West Palm Beach, he was close enough to Sarasota to get to the fund-raiser, Myrtetus said.

I'll cut spamer Charlie some slack. Alberto could have been a bigger storm and done more damage. On the other hand, I think two fundraisers in one night is a little too much. Too many chances for something to go wrong.

If we have a re-currence of this, I think Charlie Crist should take some remedial science classes. Or at least go and watch Bugs Bunny.
