Medical equipment company Awareness Technology Inc. must pay a former employee $60,000 for demoting her after learning she was pregnant, then firing her after she complained, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Monday.

Suzanne Roberts, a fomer employee at the Palm City company lost her job soon after she told her boss in 2005 that she was pregnant, the EEOC said. The $60,000 covers back pay and compensatory damages.

Enough said. This company felt federal laws don't apply to it, and that is all it takes to make Awareness Technology Inc. today's Knucklehead of the Day.
