The Knuckleheads of the Day award

Today's winners are Jorge Luis Gort, Ricardo X. Pagan, and Santos Vazquez. They get the award for the following.

A sleeping man thwarted a burglary attempt at his home Monday morning when he heard three men at his front door and chased them off, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies arrested Jorge Luis Gort, 17, of 2314 N Whittier St., Tampa; Ricardo X. Pagan, 18, of 4919 S 83rd St., Tampa; and Santos Vazquez, 18, of 138 Lon Circle, Tampa. Deputies charged each with attempted armed residential burglary and resisting arrest without violence.

The three men allegedly went to 35-year-old Samuel Sanchez's home in the 700 block of Burlwood Street in Brandon Monday around 11:35 a.m. Deputies said that Sanchez was asleep in the home when he heard his doorbell ring and found Pagan trying to open the front door with an 8-inch, black pocketknife.

Gort and Vazquez were there, too, deputies said, and when Sanchez confronted the three men, they fled.

Deputies arrived at the home a short time later and found all three suspects nearby, trying to escape. Gort was found hiding in a trash bin. Deputies used a Taser on him before his arrest because they said he failed to show his hands to assure them he did not have a weapon.
LOL, ring the doorbell before breaking in. What a brilliant idea! Jorge Luis Gort, Ricardo X. Pagan, and Santos Vazquez are today's Knuckleheads of the Day.
