A promotion

An article from the Sun-Sentinel website.

PORT ST. LUCIE -- Two of the four people arrested in connection with the shooting deaths of a Greenacres family along Florida's Turnpike in Port St. Lucie have been identified as the suspected killers, newspartner WPTV NewsChannel 5 reported late Wednesday.

Citing "reliable sources," the television station identified the suspected gunmen as Ricardo Sanchez and Daniel Toya, both 23, of West Palm Beach.

The two men were arrested Oct. 27 in their home, where authorities said they also found significant amounts of cocaine and other drugs.

They are thought to be the triggermen in the killings of Jose Luis Escobedo, 28, his wife, Yessica, 25, and their sons Luis Damien, 4, and Luis Julian, 3. All four were found shot to death Oct. 13 on the side of the turnpike.

Officials said Jose Luis Escobedo was part of the drug operation and his family had been killed because of it.

Right now none of the four people who are being held in the Palm Beach County Jail in connection with the murders has been charged in the deaths. But, that's all about to change, NewsChannel 5 reported.

TFM never blogged about this crime. I don't always blog about local news unless there is something for me to add. The killings were so ruthless in regards to the children, that you had to think drugs or other crime were some how involved.

The article is pretty standard crime reporting till this........

If Sanchez and Troya are found guilty of the killings, it would mark a significant step up in criminal lives until now made up mainly of relatively minor crimes.
This reporting is unintentionally funny. The reporter is writing as if someone got promoted from bagger to store manager at Costco. Troya and Sanchez' promotion or leap if you call it that, will most likely land them in death row cells if convicted. I don't see any jury giving men convicted of this crime anything less.

I don't think that was the raise the killers had in mind to go with their step up in the criminal world.

One last note- Say a prayer for Luis Julian and Luis Damian. They were the only innocent victims of this affair.
