Now NASA has a drug problem
The Space Shuttle's launch has been delayed again.
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., July 3 -- NASA engineers were deciding Monday whether to delay the Independence Day launch of space shuttle Discovery because of the loss of foam insulation from the orbiter's external fuel tank.My opinion on the Space Shuttle hasn't changed in a year. Scrap the program.
Mission Management Team chair John Shannon said a three-inch triangle of foam broke off a bracket holding the liquid oxygen feed line to the side of the tank, apparently as the tank was being emptied after Sunday's scrubbed launch attempt.
The triangle weighed .0057 of a pound, roughly half the size of any fragment that could do significant damage to the thermal tiles on the shuttle's underbelly, Shannon said.
Why does NASA have a drug problem. Read the Washington Post headline.
Crack May Further Delay Shuttle Launch
