Some news out of South Beach. Did he pay the cab driver for the fare before being handcuffed?
Open Post- Wizbang, Point Five,
Miami Beach police arrested a man Friday who they say robbed a South Beach bank and -- with money in hand -- hailed a taxicab as his getaway car.
Police arrested the man, whose name was not released, minutes after report of a robbery at the Bank of America branch in the 900 block of Washington Avenue.
The robbery occurred at about 12:30 p.m. when the suspect, who implied he had a weapon, demanded cash from a teller at the bank, said Miami Beach police spokeswoman Arley Flaherty.
The suspect asked for $20, $50 and $100 bills, she said.
Police said a witness saw the robber getaway after the 12:30 p.m. robbery. The witness followed the cab and called police. Detectives caught up with the suspect in the 3500 block of Alton Road where he was arrested.
Nobody was hurt and the money was recovered, Flaherty said.
