$25,000 of sound equipment but no electricity- Sound odd?

It does to me. WPEC Channel 12 reported on a local story where parishoners at this church apprehended a burglar.

A man accused of breaking into a West Palm Beach church got more than he bargained for.

A group of parishioners was waiting for him inside the church on Broadway Avenue.

Police say the group foiled the crime in a big way.

The group of six parishioners were in the church at 1:00 in the morning guarding the building from burglars.

The church has been hit several times in the last few months

Thursday night they say they actually caught someone in the act.

Esteban Mendoza was on a guard duty Thursday night at the Church of the Nazareen on Broadway Avenue.

A funny story. This burglar is certainly a Knucklehead of the day candidate. The parishoners though may want to re-consider in the future. Local authorities may not appreciate them beating and tying the guy up. I'm with the parishoners but the police and our Knucklehead State Attorney may not be so understanding.

Here's the part of the story that I find odd.

After being wiped out of $25,000 in sound equipment in a recently burglary, the church members are taking a stand against crime.

*****

The church is made up of mainly Guatemalan and Mexican immigrants who speak very little english.

That would probably make this a poor church. How did they get so much sound equipment? Of course it could be donated or used.

The pastor of the church say they bought the building a year ago and have been holding services there but permitting problems have prevented them from getting the electricity turned on.

So the church is poor. Then I got this question- What is a church with no electricity doing with sound equipment?

I'm not suspecting anything. The story is just illogical to me. I wrote WPEC reporter Dana Palley. Maybe I'll get a reply.
